STA were contracted by Eibach Springs in Germany to design and test a spring and damper system that would control the swinging movement of a gondola in strong wind conditions during the docking process. The current system does not control this motion and in very severe wind conditions the complete chairlift has to be stopped until the swinging motion comes under control and allows entry into the dock.
